How it works
Five steps from first login to day-to-day checks create a device login, install the desktop app, connect the machine, then watch it from Devices.
-
Admin
Sign in as admin
Use your admin email and password. You land on Devices, Screenshots, Break Reports, and the rest of the panel.
-
Install
Download the desktop app
From the sidebar, download the app. Put it on each computer you want to monitor one install per machine.
-
Register
Create the device login
On Devices, add a machine. Give it a clear name, set a username and password for the app, and choose a screenshot interval or Off if you only want live view.
-
Connect
Sign the machine into the app
Open the app on that computer and enter the device username and password. When it connects, it shows online on your Devices list.
-
Monitor
Use the panel day to day
Open live view, browse timed screenshots, check when someone took their own snip, read break time, and review connected devices mouse, USB, monitor, headset, and similar.
What you can check
This is workplace PC monitoring not antivirus, not a browser extension. Below is what the admin panel and the EXE actually do together.
01. Live screen
See the PC while someone is working
On an online device, click Live. The current screen streams into your admin browser. The person at that desk does not get a second window the EXE already running handles it.
- Works when the device is online
- Supports more than one monitor
- You can save a frame while watching
reception-pc · accounts-01 · hr-desk
02. Timed screenshots
Automatic captures on a schedule you set
Pick how often each PC should save a screenshot 2, 5, 10, 15, 30, 45, or 60 minutes. Set Off if that desk only needs live view. You can change the interval later without reinstalling the app.
- Per-device interval from Devices
- Gallery filter by PC and date
- Handy when you cannot sit on live view all day
03. User screenshot activity
When someone on the PC takes a snip themselves
If the person uses Print Screen, Win+Shift+S, Snipping Tool, Lightshot, ShareX, or similar and the shot is saved or copied the EXE logs it and, where possible, keeps the image for you to open. This is separate from the timed screenshots the app takes on a schedule.
- File save and copy-to-clipboard, when we can see them
- Source app and time on the device menu
- Open the image from User screenshot activity when it was uploaded
- Lightshot · file Open
- Print Screen · copy Open
- Snipping Tool 04:21
04. Break reports
Lock and sleep time on each PC
When the PC locks or goes to sleep, the app records it. Break Reports show start, end, and how long so you can see idle gaps without guessing.
- Lock and sleep with duration
- Grouped by date in the panel
- Useful when a desk went quiet and you need the timeline
- hr-desk · lock 2h+
- accounts-01 · sleep 41m
- reception-pc · lock 12m
05. Connected devices
Mouse, USB, monitor, headset — connect and disconnect
The EXE reads the peripherals attached to that PC (mouse, headset, monitor, USB drives, and similar), then syncs that list to the admin panel. You get who is connected now and a history of connect / disconnect.
- Shows the gear plugged into that PC
- Date → device → event log
- Helps when a USB stick or headset shows up or goes missing
- USB Optical Mouse Connected
- Generic Monitor Connected
- Cruzer Edge Disconnected
Why offices use it
One panel, one desktop app per PC. You decide the capture rules per desk.
Roll-out is ordinary work
Create a login per PC, share it with whoever installs the EXE, done. No browser add-on on the watched machine.
Different desks, different rules
Some counters need timed shots. Support may only need live. User snips are logged when the EXE can see them. You set that per device.
Everyday admin checks in one place
Online status, last seen, interval, break history, connected peripherals, and user screenshot activity same Devices menu you already open.
Admin access stays limited
Only signed-in admins see monitoring data. One active web session per account a new login elsewhere signs out the older one.

What admins say after they connect real PCs
Short notes from people who use the panel — not polished ads.
★★★★★
“Same afternoon we got a batch online: register, share the login, install the EXE. Live and screenshots are on one screen, so I’m not jumping between tools.”
★★★★☆
“We turned timed shots Off on support and left live on. Counters still get the 30‑minute captures. That split was what we needed.”
★★★★★
“Break reports finally show lock and sleep length. When someone asks why a desk went quiet, we have times instead of a long argument.”
★★★★☆
“USB and headset connect history helped us once a stick went missing. User snip log is new for us useful when people keep copying the screen.”
★★★★★
“Download from the sidebar, one EXE per PC. The list looks like how we already talk online, interval, last seen.”
FAQ
Questions we get about the desktop app, screenshots, and what admins can see.
What is Chameleons Pro?
Workplace software for office PCs: an admin website plus a desktop EXE. Live view, timed screenshots, user-captured snips, break reports, and connected-device history. It is not antivirus and not a browser-only tracker.
How do I start watching a PC?
Sign in to the admin panel, download the EXE, create a device under Devices, then run the app on that PC with the username and password you created.
How do screenshot intervals work?
When you add a device or open Screenshot & setting, choose 2, 5, 10, 15, 30, 45, or 60 minutes — or Off. Live view still works when timed shots are Off.
What is “user screenshot activity”?
That is when someone on the PC takes a screenshot themselves (Print Screen, Snipping Tool, Lightshot, and similar). The EXE logs it when it can see a file save or a copy. Timed shots from the app are separate, on the Screenshots page.
Does live view open a browser on the employee PC?
No. Frames come from the desktop app. Keep the EXE signed in on that machine, then click Live on Devices in your browser.
Where are screenshots stored?
Timed captures and uploaded user snips are stored with your Chameleons Pro server and listed in the admin panel (Screenshots / User screenshot activity). Filter by device and date.
What do Break Reports include?
Lock and sleep events with start, end, and duration, grouped by date.
What are connected devices?
Peripherals the EXE reports for that PC — mouse, headphones, monitors, USB storage, and similar — plus connect / disconnect history from the device menu.
Can I stay signed in on two computers at once?
One active admin web session per account. If you sign in elsewhere, the previous session is signed out after you confirm.
Can we try it on our own PCs first?
Yes. Sign in, install the EXE, connect a test device, and check live view, captures, snips, and break reports before you roll out further.
